Summary:碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 教育學系課程與教學碩士班 === 102 === A Study on Principals' Instructional Leadership and Teacher Efficacy of Elementary Schools in Miaoli County Adviser : Baomei, Shieh Graduate student : Wengfeng, Chung Abstract This study aimed to explore the principals' instructional leadership and teacher efficacy of elementary schools in Miaoli county. With the results of questionnaire survey, different situations of the principals' instructional leadership and teacher efficacy of elementary schools in Miaoli county under different background variables were analyzed, and the relative situation and predictive power of the principals' instructional leadership and teacher efficacy was discussed. According to the study results, conclusions were summarized and specific recommendations were made accordingly, hoping to provide a reference to the educational administrations and for future research. In this study, the formal in-service teachers of elementary schools in Miaoli county were selected as the study subjects to conduct questionnaire survey research. A total of 590 questionnaires were distributed and 544 questionnaires were collected with recovery rate being 92.20%, among which 514 were valid with 87.19% availability rate. After the questionnaires were collected, statistical software package SPSS for Windows 12.0 was used to conduct the data analysis, such as descriptive statistics, t-test,one way ANOVA analysis, statistical analysis, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression, and the conclusions below were gained: 1. Elementary school teachers’ perception of principals' instructional leadership tended to be upper degree. 2. Elementary school teachers’ feeling about teacher efficacy tended to be upper degree. 3. Part of the elementary school teachers with different background variables had different perceptions on principals' instructional leadership a. Teachers in schools with 7 to 12 classes had highest degree of perception on principals' instructional leadership. b. The perception situation of male teachers on the aspect of working environment of development support was higher than that of female teachers. c. The perception situation of the directors on the aspects of enhancing students’ learning atmosphere and the work environment of development support were higher than that of the mentors who did not have a dual role of executive position or subject teachers 4. The teacher efficacy of part of the elementary school teachers with different background variables was different. a. In the overall performance of teacher efficacy, the directors had the best performance in their duties, while those with service years from 6 to 10 years were the weakest. b. In the aspects of efficacy for teaching strategies and class management performance, the directors had better performance than the mentors who did not have a dual role of executive position or subject teachers, while those with service years from 6 to 10 years and aged from 31 to 40 were the weakest. 5. The perception of the elementary school teachers on their principals 'instructional leadership was positively related to teacher efficacy, and the perception of principals' instructional leadership had predictive power on teacher efficacy Keywords: principals' instructional leadership, teacher efficacy
