Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 教育學系課程與教學碩士班 === 102 === The study aimed to find out whether the comic strips appeared in our English textbooks of Junior high school were different from version to version by using a self-made scale. The purpose of this study was: first, to explore the based theories about comics in English teaching and related discussions, second, to explore the related discussions and researches about comics used in English teaching, third, to use the self-made scale to analyze the comics in English textbooks of junior high school, fourth, to propose some suggestions to textbook makers about how to edit, choose and evaluate English textbooks of junior high school. Content analysis was used in this study. This study lasted for one year and analyzed three versions of English textbooks of junior high school in order to find out the comic strips appeared in our English textbooks of junior high school were different from version to version.
The findings of this research were as follows:
1. Version B had more comics than the others.
2. Over 50% comics were put in the textbooks for 7th graders.
3. The percetanges of describing real life and important issues were too low.
4. A lot of comics were appeared in a 4-column form, just like normal comic strips.
5. The word part of these comics were more suitable to the scale than the visual part.
