There have been much research effort about WSN, but there are a few unresolved issues. The sensors are usually battery-powered, thus, it is important to save battery power and extend the network lifetime. In this thesis, an adaptive routing scheme is proposed to extend the network lifetime and improve the scalability of the LLN (Low Power and Lossy Network). The Trickle Timer algorithm is used to determine the transmission rate of the control messages. In the proposed scheme, the transmission rate can be dynamically adjusted based on a few network conditions, including the energy level, the network convergence and the traffic load. Besides, multiple LBRs (Low Power and Lossy Border Routers) are deployed in the large scale WSN to improve the scalability.
