However, heterogeneous networking technologies will co-exist in future IoT environment. IPv6 is considered as a solution to solve this problem. In this thesis, a 6LoWPAN environment is deployed, and a Gateway is designed to play as the 6LoWPAN Border Router that converts received packets into correct format and forwards them to the destination. Consequently, end-to-end communications between the nodes can be achieved in IoT. Besides, the IoT devices are designed to support the CoAP protocol in the system. Because of the CoAP, the nodes can save the service profile, and the users can use the standardized mechanism to directly access the nodes according to the profiles that are provided by nodes.
