Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 諮商與應用心理學系碩士班 === 102 === The current investigation consisted of two studies. The aim of study 1 was to
develop the Efficacy Expectation of Distress Disclosure to Romantic Partner Scale
(EEDD-RP), the Anticipated Benefit of Distress Disclosure to Romantic Partner Scale
(ABDD-RP), and Anticipated Risk of Distress Disclosure to Romantic Partner Scale
(ARDD-RP). The purposes of study 2 were to (1) test the reliability and validity of
EEDD-RP, ABDD-RP, and ARDD-RP, and (2) examine the mediating effects of
expectation of distress disclosure to romantic partner on the link between adult
attachment and relationship satisfaction. Three mediating models were tested through
structural equation model analysis. Model 1 tested the mediating role of EEDD-RP on
the adult attachment-relationship satisfaction link, while Model 2 and Model 3
respectively tested the mediating role of ABDD-RP, and ARDD-RP on the link
between adult attachment and relationship satisfaction.
Participants of study 1 were 286 Taiwanese college students with romantic
experiences. Data collected was analyzed through item analysis and exploratory factor
analysis. Participants of study 2 consisted of 512 Taiwanese college students with
romantic experiences who completed Experiences in Close Relationships
Scale-Chinese version and Relationship Satisfaction Scale, in addition to EEDD-RP,
ABDD-RP, and ARDD-RP. The results were as following:
1. The ABDD-RP and the ARDD-RP possessed good internal consistency,
acceptable criteria-related validity, and a meaningful factor structure. The
EEDD-RP also had good internal reliability and acceptable criteria-related
validity, but had poor construct validity.
2. In Model 1, both attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety were directly
related to EEDD-RP and relationship satisfaction. But there was no mediating
effect of EEDD-RP on the adult attachment-relationship satisfaction link.
3. In Model 2, attachment avoidance was directly and negatively related to
ABDD-RP and relationship satisfaction. It also indirectly related to relationship
satisfaction through ABDD-RP. As to attachment anxiety, it was negatively
associated with relationship satisfaction, but not with ABDD-RP. That is, there
was partial mediating effect of ABDD-RP on the attachment avoidance-
relationship satisfaction link, but no mediating effect on the attachment anxiety-
relationship satisfaction link.
4. In Model 3, attachment avoidance positively affected ARDD-RP and negatively
affected relationship satisfaction. Besides, it indirectly affected relationship
satisfaction through ARDD-RP. Additionally, attachment anxiety positively
affected ARDD-RP which, in turn, negatively affected relationship satisfaction. In
other words, there was partial mediating effect of ARDD-RP on the attachment
avoidance–relationship satisfaction link, and full mediating effect of ARDD-RP on
the attachment anxiety–relationship satisfaction link.
Based on results of this investigation, suggestions for practitioners and
researchers were provided.
