A quasi-experimental research design was used in this study. Patients with Type 2 DM were recruited. Subjects were divided into qigong group(QG, n=24) exercise walking group(EWG, n=24) and control group(CG, n=23) by convenience sampling. The QG and EXG took a 40 minutes, 3 times a week for 12 weeks exercise (qiging or exercise walking). The control group maintained the normal life. The data of the pre-test, 4th-week test, 8th-week test and 12th-week test and the achievement test of the exercise self-efficacy, physiologic status and quality of life. The GEE model was employed for statistical analysis to proceed the cross comparisons with repeated measurements of the time and between-groups. The results of this research indicate: The QG and EWG were significantly different in exercise self-efficacy from the CG after the interventions. The QG was better than the EWG. The QG and EWG were significantly different in BMI and waistline from the CG after the interventions. The EWG had significantly decreased in body fat than the CG at 12th-week test. There were significant differences in muscle strength, but no significant differences in muscle endurance and HRV parameters between groups. There was significant difference in HbA1c. The EWG was better than the QG. There were significant differences in quality of life- psychological domain and environment domain but no significant differences in quality of life- physical domain and social domain between groups. In conclusion, the qigong and exercise walking interventions could improve exercise self-efficacy, muscle strength and decreased the indicates of body composition, but not improve muscle endurance, HRV parameters, quality of life- physical domain and social domain. The QG was better than the EWG in exercise self-efficacy, muscle strength, quality of life- psychological domain and environment domain. The EWG was better than QG in body fat and HbA1c. The findings of this study can provide the informations as a reference to choose the types of exercise for patients with diabetes. Mei-Ling Yeh 葉美玲 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 164 zh-TW
