Such issues include short and long term instability problems that could make the whole system to collapse if not addressed. The Dynamic Security Analysis (DSA) was adopted to counter the effects of these instability problems. Current technologies improvements and added value of more advanced measurements have brought attention to develop better DSA tools, which can assess the current reliability of the network and in some cases to provide a control to mitigate or to prevent consequences of such contingencies. This work presents a concept of DSA that not only provides stability assessment but also provides control actions, from a preselected group of designated controls available, to mitigate the effects of the potential angular, voltage, and frequency instabilities. The actions are categorized in slow and fast short term phenomena: corrective and emergency controls strategies are calculated to reduce the effect of such events at a low cost. All of these efforts are driven to create a complete solution that embodies automated protections based on current network state using State Estimation (SE).
