Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to understand the current situation of financial literacy and capability for junior high school students in Pingtung county, exploring the differences among different background variables of students. It adopts questionnaire method, using pre-test to process item analysis to formulate the formal questionnaire, and compiling “the Measurement table of financial literacy and capability of junior high school students in Pingtung county” as research instrument. With 28 schools of Pingtung county as research subject, this study releases 1,200 copies of questionnaires and collecting 1,117 copies back. After deleting 24 copies of useless questionnaires, it obtains 1,093 effective copies, reaching 91.33% of availability. The collected data is further processed with statistical analysis including mean, percentage, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. Research findings are shown as follows:
1. The dimension of credit and loan is the highest among
financial literacy and capability of junior high school
students, while the dimension of money management and
planning is the lowest.
2. Financial literacy and capability for different genders
and grades of students appears partially and
significantly different.
3. Financial literacy and capability for family factors in
different teaching way of students’ parents expresses
significantly different. Family factors with different
numbers of children and parents’ occupation appear
partially and significantly different. And family
factors with different sequence of family members,
different area of residing, and different domination of
petty cash can’t reach any significant difference.
4. Financial literacy and capability for different peer
relationship of students appears significantly different.
Lastly, the study, according to research findings, presents several related suggestions to schools, parents, and future researchers as references for further research.
