Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 環境工程與科學系所 === 102 === For all citizens’ convenience, a new way for recycling was provided. The Environmental Protection Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government had installed the ARM (Automatic Recycling Machine) at the MRT Formosa Boulevard Station to help people recycle waste containers, such as plastic bottles and aluminum cans. A certain amount of cash equivalents were preloaded into their iPass cards automatically depending on what is recycled. This study aimed to compare and analyze the functions, location of the ARM, and the cash equivalents preloaded by recycling, in addition to exploring the advantages and disadvantages of this ARM from the perspective of its effects. The results could be extended to other districts in Kaohsiung or other counties/cities in Taiwan. The results showed that containers of any shape could be accepted for this ARM, it was thus more suitable for domestic use than the foreign recycling machines. However, people tended to ignore the instructions because its identification system was on the exterior. In the future, the identification system should be installed inside the ARM so that no other objects would be thrown in. In addition, its container pressing function not only made space for recycling more waste, but also reduced the collection frequency and thus the work loading for cleaners. The budgets for the cash equivalents was key factor for the policy of installing the ARM could be continued. At the current stage, the unit prices translated into the cash equivalents is still higher than those recycling suppliers may offer. If there was no price adjustment or added recycling funds granted by the Environmental Protection Bureau, the local government would face a financial problem and the willingness to use this ARM by the general public would be hindered.
