To accomplish the goals, this study used the questionnaire survey as the basis for the study. The subjects included 220 DGAs out of 241 public elementary schools in Kaohsiung City, and were selected based on various school sizes. 216 valid returns were collected, a 98.18% return rate. The study then used data statistical analysis software SPSS for Windows version 20.0 to conduct statistical analysis on the collected data. The analysis methods used included: descriptive statistics, independent sample t test, single factor variable analysis, Pearson product-moment correlation, and stepwise regression. The major findings of this study are as follows: 1.The stress level of the DGAs is average, with the work load as the major cause of stress. 2.The frequency of using coping strategies is above average, with “rational thinking” is the most used coping strategy. 3.Junior DGAs experienced more job stress in the aspect of professional knowledge and skills than senior DGAs. 4.DGAs who experienced less job stress have better coping strategies. 5.Job stress greatly affected DGAs coping strategies, especially in the area of effectiveness of administrative operations. 6.There were no significant differences in job stress experience and coping strategies related to sexes, ages, education backgrounds, school locations, school sizes of DGAs surveyed. Finally, suggestions based on the findings of the study are provided for educational authorities, schools and general affairs directors, as well as for further study.
