Forty obese children ranging from 4th to 6th grade at Chaozhou Elementary School in Pingtung County were recruited. The participants were randomly divided into the experimental group (n=20) and the control group (n=20). The experimental group received exercise training, three times a week, 40 minutes each time, totally 36 times of exercise training. It was supplemented by a weekly diet education lesson, a total of 12 times. The differences of body mass index, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, flexibility, power and sleep quality between obese and normal children were compared by using the two-factor mixed design ANOVA test(group* test-retest). We found that the BMI, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance in experimental group showed more significant differences than the control group following 12 week training (p <.05). The experimental group showed significant differences between pre-end post-test (p<.05) in BMI, flexibility, cardiopulmonary endurance, muscular endurance and power following intervention. We concluded that 12 weeks of exercise training and dietary education intervention could promote physical fitness and sleep quality in obese children. We should give proper exercise training and diet education courses to children in the future. Besides, they should develop a habit of regular exercise, correct diet concept to maintain ideal weight for their health promotion. LIN, JUI-HSING 林瑞興 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 80 zh-TW
