Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 英語學系碩士班 === 102 === With the increasing development of electronic technology, the everyday lifestyles of some people have changed. Communicating through the Internet is common among most people in recent years. Through frequent online contact, language has been influenced and some linguistic features have been modified. This study aimed to investigate how people use the Internet language in different contexts, for different purposes, and with different replies. The specific aim is to examine the Internet terms from the online battle games, League of Legends, which is well known in Taiwan. The participants were the game players and the Internet users. These people uses the terms from the game in their daily lives. In this study, a questionnaire was conducted to collect and analyze the data. The findings of the study showed the numbers and percentage of people who used the game terms in different contexts and purposes. In addition, it offered the outcomes of whether there was a relationship between age groups and the types of contexts, and whether there was a relationship between and the types of contexts and the types of replies.
