To make the initial images of the older adults in service-learning programs towards the older adults more similar to those of junior high school students, action research and focus group discussion of qualitative research were adopted to complete data collection and analysis. Results showed that, before participating in service-learning programs, the study object’s images of the older adults preferred negative adjectives because of less communication and interaction. Also, after participating in service-learning programs, the study object’s negative physical images were reduced obviously while psychological positive images were increased. That is, the study object’s participating in service-learning programs for the elderly helped more positive images for the elderly. Moreover, after participating in service-learning programs, the study object’s communication and interaction with family older adults grew in the quality and quantity. Finally, after participating in service-learning programs, the study object would be likely to continue participating in the service-learning programs towards the older adults. Obviously, the study object’s participating in service-learning programs towards the older adults helped to reduce their negative images of the older adults, enhanced positive interactive relationship, and then construct an age-friendly society. Based on the conclusion of this study, suggestions to the related institutions were as follows: first, proposals for educational institutions(1. to strengthen the junior high school’s advocacy of service-learning programs towards the older adults; 2. to provide incentives to schools with implementing service-learning programs towards the older adults; 3. to involve age-friendly issues in the curriculum and enable students to understand the elderly from different viewpoints; 4. to organize related study courses and enhance teachers’ knowledge and concept to promote the service-learning programs towards the older adults); secondly, proposals for community eldercare service and elderly care facilities(1. to contact the school initiatively, work with schools and provide students activities of service-learning programs towards the older adults; 2. to design learning activities of service-learning programs for different age groups and to enhance their willingness); and thirdly, suggestions to future researchers(while designing service-learning programs towards the older adults, to join different kinds of eldercare service organizations in order to enable the study object to contact the elderly with different attributes).
