Three methodologies were used in the thesis: literature analysis, field study, and textual analysis, along with the perspectives coming from the sociology of art as well as semiotics. The thesis attempts to collect the literature about the early social mores in Taiwan and its folklore custom used as the data for the analysis of the thesis. The ceramic tea cups were collected and photographed in order to categorize and generalize the cups. The conclusion can be made as follows: (1)From the ceramic tea cups collected from 1950s to 1970s, we can find that there are changes on the design of the cups, the decorative writing directions on the cups, the colors used of the painting, and the writing colors. (2)From the perspective of sociology of art, the cups were used as gifts, and the givers could be categorized into four kinds: the first is the mayor, who gave the cups as a gift to the teachers and the elderly respectively on Teacher’s Day and Day for the Old. As the motivation for the gift is concerned, the cups serve not only as the value of souvenir, but also as a means of establishing the ties for the candidates in the elections. The second is the farmer’s association, who sent the cups as to achieve the political economic purpose. The third is the credit union, which sent the cups as to control the organizing powers of the union, i.e., the control of money and public relations that will exert significant influences on the mobilization in the election. The fourth is the enterprise, which sent the cups in order to enhance the receiver’s positive impression toward the enterprise in hope to increase its reputation as well as the incomes, as the ceramic cups were regarded as luxurious objects in the early Taiwanese society. (3)From the theory of semiotics, the visual figures on the cups could be analyzed and divided into the following kinds: plant, animal, and nature. The graphs are mostly lucky graphs on the cups by receiving significant impacts exerted from China and Japan. Tsun-Hsiung Yao Yen-Yu Kang 姚村雄 唐硯漁 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 137 zh-TW
