The subject is a bereaved child who is in the third grade in elementary school. There are 11 play therapy sessions, each lasted 45 minutes, 2 sessions per week. The whole process was recorded by both audio and video, and also translated to interview transcript for further investigation into the change process of play themes as well as the difference in research bereaved response before and after play therapy. Key results are as following: 1. Different of Bereaved Response (1) Elementary grade students in the development of cognitive concepts on death already has the characteristics of formal operations stage. (2) After play therapy, bereaved child's emotional reactions to lost relative changes from repressed and complex to willing to express, and furthermore getting open-minded to new members in daily life compares to resistance and anger in the beginning. (3)Bereaved child’s extent of the reaction to loss and grief decreases after play therapy, and it also helps child facing the task and process of loss and grief. 2.Presentation of Play Themes (1)In this research, the theme appears most are coalition, construction, fostering and recalling the past. (2)In this research, the themes like refusal, disorder and dirty does not appear. 3.Change of Medias and Play Themes (1)The medias in this research, we have mainly nurturing media in the early, aggressive-release media in the middle, and creative expression and emotional release media in the later stage. (2)In this research, the play themes start with ego defense and construction, then conflict, death, life and superiority in the middle stage and finally problem solving.
