Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore status situation and the relationship between involvement of scouting and positive mentality of junior high school scouts in Kaohsiung city. By analyzing the differences caused by different context variables, better understanding of the relationship and further predictors can be obtained.
Questionnaire survey is adopted as the research method in this study. The objects of the questionnaires are the junior high school scouts in Kaohsiung city. From those collected 575 questionnaires, 556 samples are valid with applicable rate of 96.7%. The collected data was analyzed by way of descriptive statistic , t-test, One-Way ANOVA, Pearson's product-moment correlation, Scheffe’ method, Stepwise multiple regression.
The major conclusions of the study are as follows:
1. Junior high school scouts’ involvement of scouting is above average.
2. Junior high school scouts’ perception of positive mentality is above average.
3. There are significant relationship between involvement of scouting and positive mentality.
4. The scouts with more context variables are more active participants.
5. The scouts with more context variables are more positive mentality.
6. Members of large scout clubs have more positive mentality.
7. Involvement of scouting acts as a significant predictor of positive mentality.
Based on the results of the research, some suggestions for the authorities and institutions of education, educators, related organizations and future study were proposed.
