Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers’ innovativeness and their stages of concern about integrating digital archive resources into instruction in 14 key information technology elementary schools in Kaohsiung city. The research compared the diversity between different backgrounds in innovativeness and stages of concern about integrating digital archive resources into instruction. The researcher also analyzed the correlation among the innovativeness, the stages of concern about integrating digital archive resources into instruction, and the current conditions of integrating digital archive resources into instruction for teachers from 14 key information technology elementary schools in Kaohsiung City.
Throughout stratified random sampling, each of the teachers from 14 key information technology elementary schools in Kaohsiung City was asked to fill out an integrating digital archive resources into instruction questionnaire. There were 303 effective questionnaires and the effective recovery ratio of questionnaires was 89.12%. The collected data were later analyzed by the SPSS-for-windows software with statistical methods about Descriptive Statistics, Independent Samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Person’s Product-Moment Correlation.
The major findings of this study are summarized as follows:
1. The innovativeness of the teachers from 14 key information technology elementary schools in Kaohsiung City was medium or above.
2. The teachers of 14 key information technology elementary schools in Kaohsiung City demonstrated an above medium level concern about integrating digital archive resources into instruction, while the degree in the stages of self-concern was much higher.
3. The current condition of the teachers integrating digital archive resources into instruction in 14 key information technology elementary schools in Kaohsiung City was at a degree of medium level.
4. High score group of the ability of computer-using on the 14 key information technology elementary schools in Kaohsiung City teachers’ innovativeness obviously better than low score group. Group of 4 to 5 hours or more of surfing the Internet per day teachers’ innovativeness significantly better than group of 2 to 3 hours or less.
5. In self-concerns and impact-concerns aspects, high score group of the ability of computer-using on the 14 key information technology elementary schools in Kaohsiung City teachers’ stages of concern about integrating digital archive resources into instruction obviously better than low score group. In addition, group of 4 to 5 hours or more of surfing the Internet per day teachers’ stages of concern about integrating digital archive resources into instruction significantly better than group of 1 hour (included) or less.
6. The degree of teachers’ innovativeness was significantly related to the degree of integrating digital archive resources into instruction in the 14 key information technology elementary schools in Kaohsiung City.
7. The stages of teachers’ concern about integrating digital archive resources into instruction was significantly related to the degree of integrating digital archive resources into instruction in the 14 key information technology elementary schools in Kaohsiung City.
8. The degree of teachers’ innovativeness was significantly related to the stages of concern about integrating digital archive resources into instruction in 14 key information technology elementary schools in Kaohsiung City.
