Filtering method has been widely used in many areas of image processing, such as noise removal, color processing and even stereoscopic image. A joint bilateral filtering is applied to enhance the depth map which is estimated based on the color edge detection for image and partial perspective. The proposed method retains the object outline through a series of optimization steps to make a more rational regional depth estimation. Experimental results show that the depth map enhancement obtains the better image contours and depth imaging, so that a better stereoscope rendering is presented on the stereoscopic display.
