It has become a part of social problems. In this study, the five macroeconomic indexes: growth rate of monetary quantity, rediscount rate, foreign exchange reserves, the population above fifteen years old, and consumer price index(CPI), are investigated to see if they are influential to the unemployment rate. The data of unemployment rate and macroeconomic variables from 1995 to 2013 are collected. First, the related analysis was performed to investigate the relationship between the unemployment rate and the macroeconomic variables in Taiwan. Results showed that rediscount rate has significant influence to Taiwan’s unemployment rate. Next, regression analysis was performed to investigate whether the unemployment rate was affected by the macroeconomic variables, only two variables were left in the final regression model, which were rediscount rate and growth rate of monetary quantity.
