碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 應用日語研究所 === 102 === For over 30 years, Murakami Haruki, the world famous contemporary Japanese novelist with broad readership has been constantly publishing best selling novels. The stories of most Murakami’s novels are often super realistic, it might be the reason of the fact that while readers get deep inside the maze-like subconscious world in his novel, the society meanings within his novels are often been ignored. In fact, Murakami talks a lot about the society of Japan and the world in his essays. He also mentioned that his novels contain political meanings during past interviews. Therefore, although the writing style of Murakami’s novels is indirect and metaphoric, admittedly, there are social meanings in Murakami’s novels. The researcher think that to understand the ideologies within Murakami’s novel is the proper way to capture the deeper messages that Murakami wants to express to the society. “Kafka on the Shore” is Murakami’s full-length novel that released in 2002. The contents of it include many puzzles and metaphors, also the descriptions about system, violence, and the present society. The researcher want to use this work as subjects and try to discuss the ideologies that Murakami want to express. Hopefully, through this study, the studies of Murakami’s works from ideology analyzing can be increased.
