This approach lets the distance between two pieces of ITO glass is flexible. The study, about the method of flexible sealing, may be helpful for searching and manufacturing flexible display. There could be many applications of liquid crystal cells with flexible sealing. For these cells, the distance d between two ITO glass sheets is not constant. When the voltage is applied, the magnitude d will change slightly. It causes the change of the performance in optical transmittance of the cell. Here, the Twist-Nematic(TN) liquid crystal cell, containing E7, is manufactured with the size 3cm 3cm. The rubbing alignment method is applied. The spacer thickness is about . After the completion of the sample, a square wave voltage is applied to the cell and the light transmittance of the cell is measured. In addition to change the applied voltage, the orientation of the polarizer is adjusted in an interval of 30°. We observe a special electro-optical property of this kind of liquid crystal cell. This is that the director of the liquid crystal cannot quickly reach a steady state. It requires a longer relaxation time.
