Therefore, field trip naturally becomes a teaching method widely used by every school. In order to achieve the educational purposes of field trip, teachers need to carefully plan field trip activities. This research aims at understanding the recognition of effectiveness, planning requirements, and factors of consideration for field trip of elementary school teachers with different backgrounds. By applying questionnaire survey, 299 effective samples are gathered from the population of 320 and processed by methods of independent T-test, one-way ANOVA analyses, descriptive statistic, factor analyses, and Pearson’s correlation analysis. The results of the research include: teacher’s gender, age, position, and student’s grade have significant impact on recognition of effectiveness; teacher’s age, position, and education have significant impact on planning requirements; and factors of consideration that have significant difference are student’s grade and teacher’s education. Moreover, this study also finds that the field trip that teachers participate most often is annual field trip event; however, the most popular field trip activity is the one designed for teaching unit. This shows that most elementary school plans for annual event and teacher’s focus is on the link between teaching and field trip. Besides, planning requirements and consideration are related to teacher’s recognition of teaching effectiveness. Factors of consideration are also related to requirements. Furthermore, several suggestions are presented in accordance with the results of this study to provide references for education authority, teachers and further studies.
