A qualitative research was conducted to investigate the campus life adaptation of the children of new inhabitants. The samples of the study included the third- graders to sixth-graders, their parents, and teachers. The methods of semi-structured depth interview, participant observation and the documentary collection were conducted. The conclusion of the study included three aspects. As to campus life adaptation in psychology, multicultural learning will enhance their learning motivations. The children of new inhabitants not only are good self-concept, but also are steady emotional expressions. As to campus life adaptation in interpersonal relationship, teachers play important roles on campus life adaptation of the children. They live in no shadow of the status of the children of new inhabitants and still keep close interaction with their peers. However, the change of their parents’ marriage status do have certain impact and influence on them. Teachers should know the children’s feelings and give them more love and care to help them going through the period of pressure. As to campus life adaptation in learning, the children have excellent academic performances with potential of improvement. Their status of the children of new inhabitants has nothing to do with their academic performance, they have both good learning attitudes and attendance records. The parenting attitudes of their parents are mostly free, therefore the children themselves are the keys to the campus life adaptation. Teachers should use their professional skills and knowledge to encourage children’s performance in order to inspire and develop their potential, responsibilities, and self-disciplines. Finally, the conclusion of this study also makes suggestions for school education, family education and government. As for school education, schools should launch parenting education to empower parents, to emphasize multicultural education and adaptive counseling. As for family education, parents should participate in children’s learning and strengthen parent-teacher cooperation, in order to build friendly parent-child relationship as well as good communication channels. As for the government, they should fulfill home education laws and build correct family concept, reinforce multicultural education and enhance racial harmony. As for future research, a long term conservative and comparative research in different areas may be considered. In the future, the results of this study could be the reference for the policy maker and staff in education sector. Nieh-Tsu Chiang 蔣念祖 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 125 zh-TW
