Summary: | 碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 教育行政碩士學位在職進修專班 === 102 === The study investigated promotion of character education in an elementary school in Miaoli County. The qualitative case research method was adopted. The research issues were developed through literature review, interview with related administrative staff in the school, analysis of related document, and the researcher’s reflection both as an outsider and an insider. In addition to the case school’s process of developing character education as a school feature, this study also explored problems it encountered in the development of school feature.
Through analysis and organization of the research data, this study obtained the following conclusion:
1. In the case school, the process of developing character education as a school feature was dominated by the school administration.
2. The feature of character education in the case school is mainly focused on feature curriculum promoted by academic affair office and 6E teaching method led by student affair office.
3. The character education in the case school is closely related to feature curriculum with local culture.
4. Principle promoting character education by using instructional leadership method
5. The growth between students and teachers shows different styles
Based on the conclusion above, this study proposed some suggestions:
1. A wide spectrum of opinions about development of school features should be collected before forming a consensus.
2. A solid review mechanism should be established as an aid for examining operation of school feature development strategies and execution effectiveness.
3. By developing the feature of character education, strategic alliances are the best way to know how others are doing and develop the foundation of school feature.
4. Encourage administrative staff to take part in specific training and advanced planning.
5. Encourage teaching members to participate in character education in research and development as well as to carry out.
