The player has to fill a 9×9 grid with numbers such that each row, each column and each of the 3×3 sub-grids that compose the grid contains all of the numbers from 1 to 9. Playing Sudoku does not require any mathematic operation, and one can solve the puzzle by thinking of the relation of position and combination for the numbers in the grid, so it is a useful game for logic and reasoning training. The main objective of this study is to develop an online "Collaborative Sudoku" learning system on which the answers must be proposed by some learners with explanation, and then the answers can be validated after the consent of more than half of the learners. The system provides a multiplayer-voting mechanism for learners to improve their Sudoku skills by watching and discussing with other players as well as collaboration in solving the puzzles. A teaching experiment was conducted to investigate whether "Cooperative Sudoku" can effectively enhance the Sudoku ability and logical reasoning ability of its players. The experimental results show that the use of "Cooperative Sudoku" can improve learners’ Sudoku ability and its effectiveness is significantly higher than the use of paper-version or single-user Sudoku. According to the results of correlation analysis and questionnaire survey, there is a strong positive correlation between the progress of Sudoku ability and logical reasoning ability for those who have not played Sudoku before. In addition, this study divided learners into two types, active and observational, according to the learning-process analysis, and the experimental results show that both types of learners made significant progress in Sudoku ability. Therefore, the use of "Cooperative Sudoku" can effectively enhance the Sudoku ability and logical reasoning ability for the beginners. 唐文華 2014 學位論文 ; thesis zh-TW
