In order to achieve research aims, the character education for twenty seven students was conducted for ten weeks.This study was focused on ‘Gratitude’ which included appreciating people around, choosing story and daily life events as teaching material, and using six E teaching strategy, to observe, interview and analyze quantitative and qualitative data. Through this research process of character education focusing on ‘Gratitude’ , teachers were able to modify and ponder on their teaching method. This research results can be summarized as below: 1. In terms of the process of character education focusing on ‘Gratitude’ 1.1 Class management helps in focusing on‘Gratitude’ and creating cordial class atmosphere. 1.2 Use six E teaching strategy to conduct character education in elementary first-grade and second-grade students is feasible. 2. In terms of the effect of conducting character education 2.1 Perception perspective- Character education helps students to understand the core value of ‘Gratitude.’ 2.2 Emotion perspective-Gratitude education helps students to appreciate more. However, the gratitude becomes less when students in adverse circumstances. It is needed to increase the extent and density of gratitude. 2.3 Action perspective- Character education encourages students’ gratitude behavior. 2.4 Positive feedbacks are received from students and parents. 3. The introspection and improvement of the researcher This action research improves teachers’ profession.
