Summary: | 碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 幼兒教育學系幼稚園教師教學碩士班 === 102 === This study examines how a kindergarten teacher employs five E strategies to cultivate responsible behavior in young children. Three research questions addressed in this study are: (1) what five E strategies does the teacher use to cultivate young children’s responsible behavior? (2) what difficulties does the teacher encounter while presenting five E strategies, as well as how does she solve these problems? and (3) how effective is teaching using five E strategies for cultivating young children’s responsible behavior?
This action research performs three action cycles that use a cycling pattern of “plan, action, observation, and reflection.” The research data gathered includes young children’s art works, reflection journals, audio and video records, meeting minutes, parent-child worksheets, observation archives and informal interviews.
The conclusions of this study are as follows: (1) employing five E strategies with flexibility, (2) solving teaching problems with co-teacher, and (3) the six types of young children’s responsible behavior can be improved. Finally, implications for kindergarten teachers are to: (1) employ effective five E strategies, and (2) communicate with parents timely. Suggestions for related future research are: (1) in addition to responsibility, studying other character traits by employing five E strategies to learn more about character education, and (2) conduct research on six E strategies to get the whole picture of "the six Es of character education."
