As Mr. Lin Tsai-chueh mentioned in his article Two types of Consciousness in Taiwanese Literature: “Under the influence of Lai Ho, the father of Taiwan's new literature, both Yang Kuei and Chung Li-ho, in their own ways, expressed to the fullest the unyieldingness and compassion that are omnipresent in Taiwanese literature.” Both Yang and Chung, although suffered from poverty and illness throughout their lives, both adhered to their ultimate goals in literature. Hence, they were often entangled in the conflicts between the reality and their ideals. Based on the previous academic researches on Yang’s and Chung’s literature work, my dissertation will examine how the predicaments they experienced impacted their families, and how poverty and illness changed their views on life and their writing styles. As a matter of fact, the support from the family is a major source of Yang’s &; Chung’s unrelenting literary creation. Former researchers often focused on Yang’s &; Chung’s literary achievements, with very little emphasis on their writings about their affections and love to the family. Nonetheless, Ms. Yeh Tao and Ms. Chung T’aimei respectively played significant roles on Yang’s and Chung’s life and literary achievements. By reviewing Yang’s &; Chung’s literature works and related records of interviewing their descendants, this dissertation will examine the two great females who were hiding behind the scene but actually facilitated the creation of such great Taiwanese literary works. Yang &; Chung had strived to live up to their ideas, while some modifications of their styles in their next two generations can be seen. In the end, I will, from the family history, examine how Yang &; Chung’s ideals for the literature and their love to the land are inherited and propagated by their descendants. I will also compare the images of the two families, as well as their descendants’ efforts on continuing and propagating Yang’s &; Chung’s literary ideals. Last, my views on future researches will be presented. 陳惠齡 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 158 zh-TW |
