碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 管理學院高階經營管理碩士在職專班 === 102 === Using data from Febuary 1997 to June 2011, totaling 173 months, this research studies the relation between the business cycle and the numbers of inbound/outbound vessels in the Keelung, Kaohsiung, Taichung, Hualien Harbors. The business cycle are measured by the Taiwan National Research Association and the Taiwan Stock Exchange Weighted Index. Evidence shows that the economy prosperity continuously climb up when the number of inbound and outbound vessels in Taichung Harbor substantially increases. At the peaks of business cycle, Kaohsiung harbor shows the highest numbers of inbound/outbound vessels, compared to all other ports. When the economy prosperity and stock market had reached to its lows, Hualien harbor has the most serious impact in tourism. The inbound and outbound vessels have subsequently droped to their lows.
