This study evaluate the toxic metals Lead(Pb), Chromium(Cr), Copper(Cu) and Zinc(Zn), this kind of evaluation method is according to A guide to screening ecological risk assessment by Ohio EPA published in 2008. To know the heavy metals distribution of Formosan Reeve’s munjac’s habitat area that we collected agriculture land’s soil from Lianhua Pound, Xibao, Luoshao and Baiyang. Muntjac’s organ samples in low and mid altitudes within Taroko Nation Park. Soil and organ sample is in accordance Executive Yuan of Taiwan EPA has the standard method, the concentration of heavy metals detected in samples. In addition to collecting samples for analysis that we also used bioaccumulation parameters to calculate plants living in study area. To investigate the extent of damage caused by agricultural practices of muntjac in accordance with the habits, physiological characteristics and Toxicological characteristics of muntjac to calculate the muntjac’s harzard quotient(Hazard Quotient, HQ) with U.S.EPA ecological assessment formula. Form the result of the study found the HQ of all metal are less than 1 at Lianhua Pond and Xibao. But it is different result in Luoshao and Baiyang, the max HQ is great than 1 of Cu and Zn in Baiyang. It can be known if agricultural activities of products for use as part of fertilizer and soil conditioner used improperly will harm to neighboring habitat species. Taroko Natiomal Park should be enhanced toxic metals monitoring and ongoing follow-up of ecological risk assessment related operation in agricultural land in low and mid altitudes in the future.
