Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 海洋生物多樣性及演化研究所 === 102 === Chrysochir aureus and Otolithes ruber (Pisces, Sciaenidae) distribute in the Indo-West Pacific and are of commercial importance for coastal fisheries. A total of 381 C. aureus and 136 O. ruber ranging 130-475 mm and 122-363 mm, respectively, were collected in the southwestern water of Taiwan between November 2012 and January 2014. Growth of the fish was assessed by age determination of otolith and reproductive biology was preliminary studied by variations of gonadosomatic index. Lengths for maturity of C. aureus were 262 mm for female, 272 mm for male with a spawning period in summer and autumn; whereas those of O. ruber were unclearly determined due to data deficiency. Marginal increment analysis indicated that otolith annulus was formed annually in winter for both species. Asymptotic length 513 mm, growth rate 0.35 yr-1, and growth performance index 4.96 was estimeted for C. aureus, whereas 372 mm, 0.50 yr-1, and 4.84 for O. ruber. This indicated that C. aureus is of relatively slow growth but larger asymptotic size than O. ruber.
