Summary:碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 諮商與臨床心理學系 === 102 === The purpose of this study was through self-narrative by male counselors, to understand the life stories of male counselors, the factors that influenced male counselors into this career, the relationship between gender awareness of the male counselors in a gender minority occupation and their job. This study interviewed three male counselors and analyzed the data in perspectives of the holistic-content and categorical-content of narrative research method. Results shown the factors that influenced male counselors into the career were: Firstly, working with female was more comfortable; Secondly, the role model of an important person in counseling psychology; Thirdly, family support and expectation; Fourthly, interest in the counseling psychology; Fifthly, adventurous attitude; Sixthly, the needs of inner growth and work values. The relationship between gender awareness of the male counselors in a gender minority occupation and their job included: Firstly, repressed emotions; Secondly, gender stereotypes of males; Thirdly, certain benefits by gender; Fourthly, challenge others towards gender stereotypes; Fifthly, understanding gender stereotypes by clients; Sixthly, choices of the traits to perform; Seventhly, gender is dimension. To conclude, the researcher provided some suggestions for counseling training program and male counselors.
