| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 觀光休閒管理研究所 === 102 === Sustainable tourism development is of great importance to the sustainability of ecological community tourism. Individuals (i.e. community residents) with close ties to the course of local development are key figures to the success of sustainable tourism development. Hence, attitudes of sustainable tourism development need to be established first while sustainable tourism development is being introduced to communities, so that residents’ participation in public affairs is enhanced. By doing so, residents would consciously feel the importance of environmentally responsible behavior they exhibit. This study starts from attitudes of sustainable tourism development, then the effect it has on the relationship among attitude, community participation, and environmentally responsible behavior. This study uses in situ survey of 362 residents who most represent members of 5 eco-tourism communitie in Taiwan. The results showed that attitudes of sustainable tourism development significantly affect community participation and environmentally responsible behavior positively. The degree of residents’ community participation significantly affects environmentally responsible behavior positively. In addition, residents’ attitude of sustainable tourism development not only directly affects environmentally responsible behavior but also indirectly affects the behavior via intermediary effect from “community participation”. Finally, strategic significance of sustainable tourism development, as well as suggestions of future study, are proposed based on the result of this study.
