The research adopted the questionnaire survey method. It chose 1,265 students of different grades from 42 classes of 32 public junior high schools and 750 students of different grades from 21 classes of 7 private junior high schools as participants. The students of public schools were extracted through the stratified random and cluster sampling, and the students of private schools were extracted through the proportional sampling. Total numbers of classes are 63 classes, with total samples of 2,015 students in total numbers of students. There are 1,792 effective questionnaires. The data was conducted with analysis and tested by statistic methods of descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVN, Chi-square test, Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple regression analysis.The results of this study are listed as follows: 1.Home reading environment of junior high school students in Yunlin County is at middle level. 2.Reading motivation of junior high school students in Yunlin County is at middle level. 3.Reading behavior of junior high school students in Yunlin County is below middle level. 4.Junior high school students in Yunlin County read "literature, novel and nonfiction" the most. 5.Most background variables of junior high school students in Yunlin County show significant difference in home reading environment. 6.Most background variables of junior high school students in Yunlin County show significant difference in reading motivation. 7.Most background variables of junior high school students in Yunlin County show significant difference in reading behavior. 8.There are correlations between home reading environment, reading motivation and reading behavior which are among junior high school students in Yunlin County. 9.Home reading environment of junior high school students in Yunlin County can predict reading motivation and reading behavior. 10.Reading motivation of junior high school students in Yunlin County can predict reading behavior.
