Exclusive pedestrian phase can fully separate the conflicts between pedestrians and turning vehicles. During the phase, pedestrians can cross the intersection in all directions, even diagonally, with a short period of exclusive time. Signal design with exclusive pedestrian phase can provide a safe and convenient environmentfor pedestrian at signalized intersections. The objective of this research is to study the green time of exclusive pedestrian phase whether satisfy requirements of the vulnerable pedestrians crossing safely. This research selects signalized intersections with exclusive pedestrian phase as studying sites for field observation to collect relevant traffic characteristicsduringpeak period. Literaturerelated to the setting up minimum green time of exclusive pedestrian phase, design to revise minimum green time of the formula, evaluate the green time of current exclusive pedestrian phase in Taiwan. This research has collected vehicle volume, pedestrian volume, ratio of turn vehicle andtraffic composition. Setting up criteriafor green time of exclusive pedestrian phase, propose fitting for Pedestrian cross the green time recommended values, andeffectively improve the utilization rate and reduce the accident rate of pedestrians at intersections Hsing-Chung Chu 朱興中 學位論文 ; thesis 97 zh-TW
