Moreover, the European debt crisis in 2012 struck the world even more in terms of global economic growth. Taiwan, as a international commerce oriented country, has also been seriously affected. Therefore, this thesis aims to explore the nature of the European debt crisis and the influences it has brought up. The purpose of this research is to find out the triggers for the European debt crisis, the following issues, and the influences to the region and Taiwan from the perspectives of globalism, regionalism, and regional integration. It is also anticipated that a modified economic developing path could be proposed for Taiwan. The findings are as follows: the European debt crisis is not only an economic problem to Europe but also to the world. A sound and stable finance system is the key element to cope with the problem for the Euro zone and Taiwan . In addition, policies to revive the economic development should be well-estimated and proposed. Moreover, the affected economies ought to increase their competitiveness through developing predominant industries.
