Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 輔導與諮商學系所 === 102 === Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral group therapy in promoting a sense of self-esteem, cognitive and behavior change for female drug abusers in recovery. Methods: The participants were 28 female drug offenders who were willing to join the group, assigned to experimental and control groups. The 14 experimental group participants received a 2-hour cognitive behavioral session weekly for 12 weeks while the 14 control group members did not receive any type of treatment. All subjects were administered by the inventories about "self-esteem" and "thinking and behavior of drug addiction" for pretest-posttest-follow-up test. ANCOVA was used to test the effectiveness of this treatment model, and the degree of satisfaction from learning in the group and the observation records of the group process were used as supporting information to evaluate the counseling effectiveness. Results: 1. No significant difference was found in the subjects’ self-esteem efficacy, but the performance of experimental group is better than control group on acceptance from self and others, self-confidence and self-worth. According to the analysis of the members’ performance, treatment is more helpful to high self-esteem and low self-confidence members, low acceptance from self and others’ members were less helpful by the treatment. 2. Significant difference was found in the knowledge of the changing process, and the performance of experimental group is better than control group on thinking and behavior of drug addiction, ability to cope and emotion regulation, but the scores in adequate cognition declined after the treatment. According to the analysis of the members’ performance, treatment is more helpful to low thinking and behavior of drug addiction, poor ability to cope and poor emotion regulation. 3. According to the degree of satisfaction from learning in the group and the observation records of the group process, treatment is helpful to emotion regulation and relax, members can enrich their knowledge about getting rid of addiction, including the knowledge of the changing process, factors of addiction, coping skills, adequate cognition and emotion regulation. Besides, treatment has positive impact on self-esteem, members start to notice the importance of self-affirmation, thinking about the goal of their future, having more confidence and hope, and are satisfied with the content and design of the treatment.
