Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 高階主管企管碩士班 === 102 === This study focused on an essential factor affecting the development of the insurance industry staff recruitment and employee retention. It aimed to explore the career development and job performance of insurance jobs by means of explicating the relationships of personality traits, education levels, and areas of study to the insurance industry. Meanwhile, through analysis of insurance jobs, it also intended to reveal that insurance agents feel a sense of happiness toward their work environment and enjoy their work with cheerfulness. Insurance agents also receive a higher income than those in the service industry and the manufacturing industry. Most important of all, they obtain more profits, such as flexible work hours and time management, a good balance between work and family, more time with their family, etc. In addition, after working in the insurance industry for three to five years, insurance agents are accustomed to the positive work environment, and already find it difficult to adjust themselves to traditional industries that require them to work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a daily basis. This is the most powerful evidence showing that up to ninety percent of insurance agents enjoy their career.
The results of the study showed that insurance agents, with a high school diploma or above on any areas of study, have an equal opportunity to climb to senior executive positions as long as they are determined to work hard. The analysis of personality traits revealed that up to thirty percent of insurance agents were introverted, which conflicts with a common belief that insurance agents are mostly extroverted and eloquent. Also, this study found that analytical people with introverted personality have better job performance than those of the influencing and extroverted type. It is hoped that the findings of this study can clarify the insurance industry to readers who are not familiar with it, fresh graduates who are interested in it, and others who are determined to start their own business. To fresh graduates, the insurance industry is also an option with high added value. They can keep learning about the work environment, facing new challenges, and learning new things every day. Through experience sharing in the insurance industry, they can adjust themselves to the competitive social environment quickly. In addition, this study showed that up to eighty-eight percent of the respondents believed that insurance agents could not be easily replaced by others. This further proves that many people feel positive about insurance agents’ capability.
