Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 華語文教學研究所 === 102 === “Podcast”, a new methodology that combines technology and language education has been applied widely since Apple Inc. developed “iTunes”. Based on theories of “second language acquisition” and “narrow listening”, the researcher established “Voice of Chinese: Chinese Learning for Thai Students” (VOC, http://voiceofchinese.blogspot.tw/) as a platform for Thai students to learn Chinese. This website let users download podcasts to their mobile devices or i-Products, and listen to podcasts. Through listening to podcasts of language learning, Thai learners can create a virtual second lanugage learnin environment. After the researcher uploaded all 10 lessons to the website, learners started to listen to podcasts. All 10 lessons are directly recorded in Chinese, and the contents of lessons set to be “authentic materials”. What’s more, podcasters provided extra assistance based on “comprehensible input” like transcipts and learning guides to help learners comprehend better. After 4 to 6 weeks, the researcher asked them to fill out a questionnaire online, to see how podcasts helped them learn Chinese. According to the results of the questionnaire, learners gave positive responses to “Voice of Chinese”(VOC). They think learning mode of VOC help them a lot, because they learn Chinese with the easiest way: “listening”. Meanwhile, the website provides extra assistance for learners to achieve understanding without Chinese translation. It shows that podcast can indeed be an effective learning tool for second language learners. Based on the results, VOC website will carry on making new podcasts through different language versions, and invite more learners to learn Chinese with “Voice of Chinese”.
