Summary:碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 人類學研究所 === 102 === For nearly a decade, the influences of globalization can be obviously perceived by the increasing number of immigrants from Southeast Asia in Taiwan. For the purpose of seeking a better life, those immigrants travel through the borderline in the name of labor or marriage. In the following discussion, the topic of this paper is mainly about the social participate activities of foreign spouses in a mountainous village called Nangang Village, which located in the central part of Taiwan. Social participation such as taking part in community activities, working, community interaction, gain knowledge, volunteer services, casual activities, and political activities are all include. Thought out those activities, foreign spouses construct their social network, accumulate social capital and gain self-realization, by taking a further examination of this, researcher could have more details about how it helps foreign spouses fit in Taiwan’s culture and lifestyle. This article based upon the fieldwork from 2012 to 2013. By developing these materials that collected during the period of time, researcher explored how marriage immigrants travels overseas and live a life that is totally different than their original home country. And how do they achieve the goal of empowerment through social participation.
