However, the ultimate goal is to provide residents a livable residential environment. In recent years, Taiwanese people value more on the quality of living environment than the size of the living place. The emerging redevelopment zone are mostly divided into the larger street blocks and preferably developed in a comprehensive way. Therefore, the quality of the living environment is not only depends on the dwelling unit itself, but also the relationship between the residential units and the surrounding environment. This paper is aiming at evaluating the influence of different ways of readjustment on the living environment by assessing the case of Huwei Liao redevelopment zone. There are all kinds of court terraced townhouses at Huwei Liao which are very different from the traditional ones and becomes the specialty of Huwei Liao. This essay would further the classification and discussion of the aforementioned problems.
Besides, although the living environment of Taiwan is often affected by the negative impact brought by commercial facilities, it’s also hard to ignore the convenience brought by commercial activities. Therefore, if we could utilize the analysis of regional environment to gauge the potential and opportunity of the commercial activities on the land and deliberately shape or avoid the generation of commercial activities by using a more suitable ways of readjustment and architecture. In this way, it could not only decrease the negative impact caused by commercial activities but also create the add-on values on the living environment and to achieve the reciprocity of both residential and commercial spaces.
This thesis mainly assess (1) the types of configuration within Huwei Liao (2) the using condition of the inner-court style townhouses (3) the architecture design and techniques to avoid engaging in commercial activities, in the hope to initiate the related practices to affect the quality of living environment in redevelopment zones. Then use the indicators such as” Is there any commercial activities? , “Is there any inner-court m space?, Is the inner-court adopting pedestrian and vehicle separation lane?, Is there any green plantation on vehicle lane?” to evaluate the elements of the living environment quality. After that, use the analysis and discussion to provide the advice on the using condition of the inner-court style townhouses, the architecture design and techniques to avoid engaging in commercial activities and the environment of the car lanes, all these suggestions would be the reference for the future designs. Lastly, the thesis would include the aforementioned guidelines to suggest a type of residential unit, and discuss the optimal size of street blocks in promising (community-based) redevelopment zones. The writer hopes to use the relevant legislature to regulate the size of street blocks to ensure the sustainable ways of development readjustment as well as to improve the quality of living environment.
