Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 水利及海洋工程學系 === 102 === River restoration projects have become increasingly common, but lack of monitoring efforts led to the difficulty of obtaining the lessons of success and failure of a project. Hence, systematic post-project appraisals (PPAs) become very important in order to obtain lessons learned from past projects and apply adaptive management for future similar projects. This study provides performance assessment of Chotengkeng Creek restoration project in terms of conveyance and habitat objectives. PPA was conducted and the performance assessment was provided as results from several surveys. Evaluation of in-stream habitat structure showed that 98% of all structures had given sign of damage, and indicated the project to fail in achieving habitat objectives. It is found that eventhough there were emergent of vegetation and changes in the river bed, this project seems to achieved its conveyance objective. This study suggest for future similar projects to include post project monitoring effort and consideration of geomorphic issues (e.g. sediment transport process) in project design in order to get an effective restoration project. Modification of channel and placement of in-stream structure will become unproductive in stream with high sediment yield.
