Modified and Enhanced So and Chan are improved from traditional So and Chan, however, both of them reduce noise interference by digital filter and detect R wave. Since using filter will change the waveform and may cause important physiological signals of human body disappear, the medical personnel may misjudge by errors.
Therefore, this research is about how to reduce errors without using filter. The Noise Immunity (NI), R-Wave accuracy (RA) and Heart Beats Error Percent (HBEP) are evaluated to prove proposed algorithm is better. Reference samples which provided by Massachusetts Institute of Technology arrhythmia databases (MIT-BIH) are used for comparison in this paper.
This research work is improved Low-Cost So and Chan algorithm. It combines advantages of Enhanced So and Chan. Also, this way can effectively reduce traditional HBEP 8.518 % to 2.072%. The results are very similar to Modify So and Chan. We use FPGA board to verify our algorithm. The results are exported to Matlab for comparisons.
