In the period 1917-1949, the Soviet Union played an important role in China’s successful revolution. In the 1950s, the Soviet Union and China formed an alliance; in the sixties, Moscow and Beijing walked separate ways and fragmented; in the seventies, both countries were anti-imperialist and anti-revisionist and went on to establish a front on anti-unification; in the eighties, Moscow and Beijing began talks for normalization and moved towards a new relationship. After going through the three phases of seeing each other as friends (1992), establishing a constructive partnership (1994) and confirming a strategic cooperation partnership under Yeltsin, Russia was prepared to enter a new phase with China under Putin. China and Russia enjoy close relations, with cooperation mainly centered on national interest. Based on a common stance against U.S. hegemony and separatist movements at home, bilateral relations enjoy steady development. Beijing and Moscow joined hands against the West and maintained great power status, to the benefit of realizing a multilateral system. Over the past decades, China-Russian relations moved onto a positive path as a result of the convergence of strategic interests. Currently, bilateral relations have reached a historic peak. However, as differences remain between partnership and alliance, the future of Sino-Russian relations remains uncertain. If a conflict of interest arises, the close relationship between China and Russia may be challenged. Tung-Chieh Tsai 蔡東杰 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 148 zh-TW
