Public Attitudes toward Plain Forest Values and Plain Afforestation Award Policy─A Case Study of Visitors in Aogu Wetland and Forest Park

碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 森林學系所 === 102 === The purpose of this study was to assess the public attitudes toward plain forest values and Plain Afforestation Award policy. The study area was located in Ao-gu wetland forest park. The questionnaires were designed and used on-site surveys to survey visitors. The results showed that the visitors tend to pay attention to the social and environment dimensions of plain forest values, and they also approve of the policy content and targets, especially in‘carbon reduction’and‘maintenance of biodiversity’. As for the afforestation areas, they preferred the agricultural region which was abandoned in current status and needed restoration. Whereas, the general and specific agricultural areas showed lower scores in this study, suggesting that argricultural production should be taken into consideration in these areas. Moreover, the agreement of policy content is influenced by the social and environmental dimensions of plain forest values. As for socio-demographic variables, this study found that age, monthly income and marriage influence the tendency to plain forest values and the opinion of Plain Forestry Award policy. It showed that the elders, high-income earns and married people concern about the social and environmental dimensions of plain forest values; and they also agree with the Plain Afforestation Award policy. In addition to these 3 socio-demographic variables as mentioned above, gender also affects the public attitude toward the policy targets. In general, that the male, elders, high-income earns and married people might approve of some policy targets. This study focuses on the public in Ao-gu wetland forest park, whose attitude toward plain forest values, afforestation area and Plain Forestry Award policy in the present status in order to provide the government information for afforestation policy implementation.
