Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 生命科學院碩士在職專班 === 102 === Colorectal cancer ( CRC ) is a major cause of cancer morbidity and mortality. In Taiwan, CRC is the first common malignant disease and third most frequent cause of cancer-related death, with 14,040 new causes and 4,676 deaths occurred in 2010. Despite the overall improvement in CRC therapy, it remains a major health burden with million cases worldwide and a disease-specific mortality about 33% in the developed world. Clinicopathological stage at the time of diagnosis remains the most important prognostic indicator in CRC.In same stage patients received same treatment that show variable responses and survival rates.Incorporating molecular features and distinct cellular marker for CRC subtype may be used to refine prognostic information and predict the benefit derived from systemic treatment.
ATPase family AAA domanin containing 3A ( ATAD3A ) is a mitochondrial protein.Applying autoantibody- mediated identification of antigens (AMIDA) to probe tumor-associated antigen,ATAD3A had been identified in head and neck cancer patients . In recent studies, ATAD3A also overexpressed in some cancers including lung adenocarcinoma, uterine cervical cancer associated with poor prognosis and chemotherapy resistance. It suggested that ATAD3A could be a novel anti-apoptotic factor and anti-autophagic factor. However, overexpressed ATAD3A inhibit cell proliferation in oligodendrogliomas study.ATAD3A present in vitro anti-oncogenic property. The role of ATAD3A expression in CRC has not been investigated. In this study, we determined the expression level of ATAD3A in CRC cell lines and CRC pathological specimens(surgical specimens in Taiwan and tissue microarray in US). The correlation between ATAD3A expression and patient survival was statistically evaluated and explained.
