When the temperature of bounded long welded rail rises, due to local weather condition or car braking, the axial load of long welded rail is induced. The mean rising temperature of 40℃ of the rail is assumed, and the coefficients of variation are 0.05,0.1 and 0.25, respectively. The coefficients of variation of sectional area, linear expansion and Young’s modulus of the rail are 0.01,0.02 and 0.05, respectively. Assume the mean buckling load of the rail is 75300 kgf and car braking force is 25000 kgf. It is shown that the statistical mean axial load to temperature effects is 61500 kgf.
