| Summary: | 碩士 === 明新科技大學 === 電子工程研究所 === 102 === Society in Taiwan consists of aging population and nuclear families, so developing a robot that accompanies the elder and children is in high demand for housewives and white-collar workers. Most of the developed medium-to-large robots are for public service, such as service robots and security robots. The function of assisting in doing chores has been equipped, but the multimedia feature is not enough. This paper aims at developing multimedia service robot, which can be controlled remotely by a cellular phone. The body of the robot consists of wheels to demonstrate its motion ability, the accuracy of its location is adjusted based on measuring the reflected infrared signal, the integration of individual subsystems and the function is designed using LabVIEW in HomeServer, and the multimedia video surveillance system is accomplished by VLC (Video Lan Client). After numerous practical tests, we confirm that this service robot is for not only security but also all kinds of multimedia use. This multimedia system can be controlled remotely via a cellular phone to play the TV shows, DVDs, or music on demand in order to overcome the difficulty of being unable to accompany families.
