The current development trend of solid walls is to install sensors and cameras to become electronic fences.Of course the protection function of an electronic fence is far better than a solid wall. But in building a solid wall or an electronic fence, one may encounter some difficulties such as lack of manpower、lack of funds、lack of construction materials、damage to environment or poor geologic conditions and so on. Recently,in the area of walls appears a new type of wall called the virtual fence.Due to virtual fence is completely computer operations, there is no need for building a real wall. So,the advent of virtual fence greatly eases the difficulties mentioned above and help boost the performance on the electronic fence. In this study, we have design a new virtual fence identification system with two features. One feature makes use of「String pattern recognition method」written by Fong and Chu [14] to help divid a polygon into a combination of triangles. These triangles do not overlap with each other. Another one feature makes use of「Identify points in the polygon-a neural network algorithm」written by Chu [9] to replace each triangle with a neuron.Because the neural network algorithm having parallel conputation function can efficiently determine whether a point is inside a polygon. Here, we would like to remind readers that in the study a polygon represents a wall and a point represents a person. In this study we have designed a virtual fence application paradigm. It is a tourist route. Along the route, we have set up three virtual fences.Visitors who stray from the course, will get a warning via his mobile phone. This paradign works well enough to verify the system is feasible.
