The Influences of Multiple Intelligence and Parents’ Occupations to Occupational Interests of New Immigrant students

碩士 === 明道大學 === 課程與教學研究所 === 102 === Abstract This study is aimed to explore the multiple intelligence of new immigrant students as well as their vocational interests based on the vocational category of parents analyze the correlation and predictability between multiple intelligence and vocational interests of students as well as the variance of multiple intelligence of students and their vocational interests from different vocational category of new immigrant parents, and submit conclusion and recommendation based on research result. This study employs a questionnaire survey. The study covers both self-produced “Measures for Multiple Intelligence of New immigrant students” and “Measures for Vocational Interests of New immigrant students.” There are about 513 samples selected by stratified random sampling which are found by the research fellows at junior high schools in Changhua County. These research data were processed by the software of SPSS Statistics 19.0 including descriptive statistics, two-way MANOVA, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The research fellow finally comes up with a conclusion based on data result. The major findings of this study are stated as below. 1. The performance of ”bodily-kinesthetic”, “intrapersonal”, “musical-rhythmic”, and “interpersonal” intelligence of the new immigrant students who study at junior high school in Changhua County is more than dimension in average. Furthermore, the performance of “verbal-linguistic”, “existential”, “naturalist”, and “logical-mathematical” intelligence is below the dimension in average. 2. The new immigrant students who study at junior high school in Changhua County have less interests in the vocational category of “art”, “science”, “fauna and flora”, “security”, “mechanical”, “industrial production”, “corporate affairs”, “sales”, “personal service”, “community service”, “leadership”, and “gymnastic performance”. 3. The most vocational category that the new immigrant fathers of these junior high school students fall into the “mechanical” category. 4. The most vocational category that the new immigrant mothers of these junior high school students fall into the “industrial production” category. 5. There is no significant variance between vocational categories of new immigrants on the vocational interests of the new immigrant students who study at junior high school in Changhua County. 6. There is no significant variance between vocational categories of new immigrants on the multiple intelligences of the new immigrant students who study at junior high school in Changhua County. 7. There is a significant correlation between multiple intelligences and vocational interests of the new immigrant students who study at junior high school in Changhua County. 8. Each dimension of multiple intelligence for the new immigrant students who junior high school in Changhua County is found to be significantly correlated with each other. 9. Each dimension of vocational interests for the new immigrant students who study at junior high school in Changhua County is found to be significantly correlated with each other. 10. There is a significant predictability on vocational interests as the research fellows find from looking at the multiple intelligence of the new immigrant students who study at junior high school in Changhua County. 11. There is a significant predictability on multiple intelligences from vocational interests of the new immigrant students who study at junior high school in Changhua County.
